Hello! Here is a funny festival which is celebrated in Italy.
Italians hold an orange battle during a carnival in the northern Italian town of Ivrea on Sunday.
Dressed up as a Middle Age king’s guards, a group of men ride in a horse-drawn carriage and pelt “foot soldiers” with oranges as thousands of people gather to reenact a Middle Age battle when the townsfolk of Ivrea overthrew an evil king.
In a strange twist, instead of swords and crossbows, these days the weapons of choice are oranges.
If you only want to look but not throw, then you can get a red hat there which declares neutrality and guarantees you no orange hits.
So when you go to Italy don’t forget your red hat.

シトラスカーニバル
こんにちは！イタリアで祝われている面白いお祭りをご紹介しましょう。
イタリアでは２月１９日の日曜日に北イタリアの町イヴレーアでオレンジで戦うというカーニバルがありました。
イヴレーアの町の人々が邪悪な王を倒したという中世の戦いの伝説を再現するために集まった何千人もの人々が中世の王の警備員に扮してグループになって馬車に乗り、”歩兵”にオレンジを投げつけるのです。
変わったこじつけとして、剣やクロスボウの替わりに現在はオレンジを武器として選んでいます。
このカーニバルを見たいけれどオレンジを投げたくない人は、赤い帽子をかぶってくださいね。
赤い帽子は中立を宣言する目印となり、オレンジがあたらないことを保証されます。
だから、イタリアに行く時には赤い帽子を忘れないでね！
