What is Ice wine?
Ice wine (or icewine; German Eiswein) is a type of dessert wine produced from grapes that have been frozen while still on the vine. The sugars and other dissolved solids do not freeze, but the water does, allowing a more concentrated grape, resulting in a smaller amount of more concentrated, very sweet wine.
Due to the labour-intense and risky production process resulting in relatively small amounts of wine, ice wines are generally quite expensive.
Canada and Germany are the world’s largest producers of ice wines. About 75 percent of the ice wine in Canada comes from Ontario.

さとしさん、先日は、ドイツのアイスワインとそれにまつわる写真をありがとうございました！
アイスワインって？？
アイスワインは、デザートワインの一種で、収穫せずに天然状態で凍らせたブドウから生産されるワインです。
水分は凍りますが糖やその他の固体成分は凍らないため果汁が濃縮され、非常に甘いワインとなります。
が、それゆえ生産量がとても少なく、手間もかかり製造にリスクも伴うため貴重で高価なワインなのです。
ちなみにカナダとドイツが世界中のアイスワインの２大生産地で、カナダのアイスワインの７５％はオンタリオ州で生産されるそうです。
